About SkyRiver’s Puppy Program:
We appreciate your interest in our line of performance Labradors.
Our goal is to produce healthy, happy family companions that excel in the
upland field and in the duck blind. We also feel our pups are great
candidates for working venues like obedience, agility, or Search and
Rescue. We only breed quality dogs that we personally compete, hunt and
that we absolutely adore as partners. When the dogs aren’t at work you can
find them curled around our feet or relaxing on a plush dog bed with their
toys.
Our Program:
At SkyRiver we have purposely designed our program to be small so each
dog gets one-on-one training and attention daily. If you come to
visit you will see a group
of very cheerful girls and boys that love to perform and want to please.
We’ve worked hard to produce durable dogs that are smart, willing, able,
and bird crazy. We spend a lot of time researching, visiting, and
watching the males we choose to cross with our girls. When you see
the puppies it will be apparent that plenty of time, thought, and
consideration has been put into everything: their birth, care, and
beginning socialization. It is our passion to have a limited number
of high quality puppies that we would be proud to own and carry the
SkyRiver name.
SkyRiver
is serious about the puppies we raise and the homes they are placed in.
We are looking for the atmosphere where the pup can flourish as a member
of the family. If training and competition is something you enjoy
SkyRiver Retrievers have the background and pedigrees to get the job done.
If you are new to Labs they are wonderful dogs that make training for
any venue successful and fun.
All of our puppies are raised in our climate controlled whelping
center. They visit our vet within 3-5 days of being born for their
first checkup. From their birth they are cared for non-stop until
the day they leave. We start socialization, noise acclimation and
grooming very early. When the puppies are old enough they eat 3
meals a day in a large open field so they can explore and play. At
6-7 weeks the litter is put on live birds and evaluated. We believe
the more experiences our puppies are exposed to the better.
Reserving
a SkyRiver Pup:
To secure your SkyRiver puppy please request a puppy application.
We require a $200 non-refundable deposit. With your deposit you show
you are serious about owning a SkyRiver Labrador and lock down your spot in
the picking order. Please take time when filling out your
reservation form. We consider this a road map to your puppy’s
future.
Your balance will be due on or before pickup day. You will be
notified in advance of pickup day and be able to schedule an appointment
time. If you are unable to pickup your puppy on thescheduled day we
do offer daily boarding or a Headstart program. We do feel it is in
your puppy’s best interest to get into your family environment as soon as
possible or start in our Headstart program.
Shipping:
If
we are shipping your puppy we look for the very best flight for the puppy.
There are additional charges for your puppy’s health certificate and
aiport delivery of $100. Please make sure to include this in your
balance. An airline approved crate is also needed. We have
them on hand for $50 if you do not want to mail one to us (normally with
shipping, getting one from us is much less expensive). Your puppy is
generally sent COD for the shipping charges. If we need to
pre-pay for shipping we'll hold your puppy's papers until the flight is
paid for in full. The shipping charges vary depending on your
part of the country. They normally run $185.00 to $285.00.
Health:
Our pups' health is very important to us and we follow a program
designed by our vet of many years. Our pups will have their dew
claws removed (unless stated differently on a specific litter),they will
be de-wormed at week 4, 5 and 6, and receive their first “Puppy
Shot” at 6 weeks of age. We provide a complete and detailed health
record with dates and vaccines/wormers used.
We spare no expense when it comes to the health and well being of our
dogs and puppies, which makes our puppy program an expensive program to
manage. Between vet visits, a high quality diet, bird costs and
uncountable hours of time, we invest all we have into our line of Labs
and feel it represents itself. Call us, email us or schedule an
appointment to come see us. We’d love to hear from you!
